Kudos to all of you with sales positions because I really do not envy your jobs. I’ve had my share of retail sales experience (like every other teenager in America) and it is one of the most annoying experiences that every spoiled bratty teenager should go through. However if you’re an adult and still working in sales, then well… I wish you all the best.
I really don’t like aggressive sales tactics, Jehovas witnesses and other door-to-door solicitors. I understand these people are doing their jobs as required of them, but I’m still annoyed by it anyways. The other day, I went to the grocery store and a man greeted me as I was entering the store. No thanks to my ingrained manners, I greeted him back and I guess that was an invitation for him to jump right into his sales pitch to get me to subscribe for some small-time magazine/newspaper. In return he’d give me $20 in grocery store giftcards as compensation.. Really?? 20 freaking dollars.
I didn’t need or want $20 and I told him I was in a hurry and wasn’t interested. Eventually he let me go, and accosted someone behind me but I was still annoyed that there went 5 minutes of my time I wasn’t going to get back. Honestly, I just wanted to get my groceries and go home. Its worse when I’m at home and the Jehovas witnesses come by every month to give me flyers of bible passages.. My family is Buddhist! We tell them every time! Why do they keep coming back?? I have no clue.
Anyways, the weather is pretty gloomy in Toronto lately, and I think I’m coming down with a headcold so I may not be in the mood for another review/post for at least a few days. I’m thinking of starting The Mortal Instruments (finally, I know) this week or next, depending on how I feel.
